Working Engineers

Engineering Gateways enables you to gain the necessary academic qualifications and develop the required competence for professional registration without needing to leave employment.

As well as undertaking learning to meet UK-SPEC requirements for either Bachelors or Masters level, you should develop all or many the competences required for professional registration.

Successful completion of the learning programme results in an academic award. Participants who demonstrate the required competences are also eligible to apply for professional review. Your learning and development of competences are based around your work activity and also tailored to your employer's needs.

Benefits to working engineers include:

  • A workplace route to achieving the required academic qualifications for professional qualification - IEng or CEng status
  • Your learning and professional development are linked to your workplace activities
  • No loss of earnings as you will 'learn whilst earning'
  • Support and mentoring to guide you through the process.

Who is it for?

It is for you if you don't have the full exemplifying qualifications for registration, are in work, and are unable to commit to full-time study.

The Engineering Gateways programmes lead to either a Bachelors or MSc Professional Engineering Degree, for those aiming to become an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or a Chartered Engineer (CEng).
