This database lists qualifications and programmes that professional engineering institutions have approved as contributing towards Engineering Technician (EngTech) or ICT Technician (ICTTech) registration. You can search the database of technician qualifications for:
- Programmes - Apprenticeships, other employer schemes and NVQs/SVQs that may fulfil most or all of what you would need to become registered as EngTech or ICTTech
- Vocational qualifications that may contribute towards EngTech or ICTTech registration.

Further information
There are two routes to registration as an Engineering Technician or ICT Technician:
Standard Route - the technician database includes programmes and qualifications approved by Engineering Council licensed professional engineering institutions as providing evidence of part or all of the required competence to achieve EngTech or ICTTech registration. (See 'Standard Route' in UK-SPEC and ICTTech Standard for further information).
Individual Route - many potential professional engineering technicians have not had the advantage of formal training, but are able to demonstrate they have acquired the necessary competence through substantial working experience. Thus individuals without the qualifications listed in this database may apply for an Individual Route assessment. (See 'Individual Route' in UK-SPEC and ICTTech Standard for further information).
In order to apply for registration you must first be a member of a licensed professional engineering institution. A list of these can be found in the links to the right.
Notes
The Engineering Council also holds details of qualifications that partially or fully satisfy the education requirement for CEng and IEng registration. You can search the accredited course database using the link provided on the right of this page.

NQF levels
Each accredited qualification has an NQF level. If qualifications share the same
level this means that they are broadly similar in terms of the demand they place
on the learner.
Total Credit
The minimum number of credits required at the level of the qualification to achieve
the qualification.
Qualification Type
Qualifications with distinctive structural characteristics are grouped together
under specific types: for example, Vocationally Related Qualification, National
Vocational Qualification (NVQ), GCSE, GCE A-Levels, QCF, etc
Ofqual or SQA Reference
Qualification reference numbers can be found from The Ofqual Register and SQA links in the right-hand menu. Please enter (including any forwards slashes) exactly as e.g. Ofqual Register code
Awarding Body
The awarding body is the organization who awards the accredited qualifications
Institution Reference Number.
The personal reference code used by the institution accreditting to identify the
qualification
Regulation Start Date
The date that the qualification is accredited from.
Review or end date
The date that the qualification is accredited till.
Approved Employer

The Approved provider is an individual, institution, organization, or agency responsible
for the qualification or unit.
