Influencing and responding to policy
The Engineering Council takes an active interest in all
developments in education and skills policy which might have an
impact on the professional formation of engineers and technicians.
We do this through formal and informal contact with government
departments and agencies, and through responding to official policy
proposals.
In doing so we work with a range of partners -
including:
- Royal Academy of Engineering
- EngineeringUK
- Quality Assurance Agency (QAA)
- Engineering Professors' Council (EPC)
- Higher Education Academy Engineering Subject Centre
- National Forum of Engineering Centres
- UK Commission for Employment and Skills
- many Sector Skills Councils
The Engineering Council is an active member of Education for
Engineering, through which the engineering profession offers a
co-ordinated view to Government on education matters.
Learning in the workplace
Through the Engineering Gateways project the Engineering Council
is working with universities, employers and the professional
engineering institutions to develop learning pathways which
integrate, within the workplace, graduate and postgraduate level
education and supervised professional development.
